DSJ Advisory Welcomes New Tax Partner, Terence Coppinger!

DSJ Advisory Group LLC is excited to announce that Terence Coppinger CPA has joined DSJ CPAs as Partner-in-Charge of Tax! Terry brings with him over 30 years of Partner level leadership experience as a tax practitioner in the New York Metro area from  Big Four and Regional Firms, working with business and individual clients across all industries and sizes. Additionally, Terry has experience advising clients in the areas of Global Information Reporting and IRS Practice and Procedure with a proven track record of developing and implementing best practices and enhancing operational effectiveness.

Jahelka, Managing Partner. “I am confident that Terry’s long and significant background with high net worth and ultra high net worth  individual clients and businesses with complex tax situations will be instrumental in the services and expertise we are able to provide to our clients but also in the build out of DSJ’s wealth management, financial planning, and insurance businesses moving forward.”

Mr. Coppinger is a member of the Tax Section and the Personal Financial Specialist Section of the AICPA.  He serves on the IRS Relations Committee and the FAQ sub-committee of the New York State Society of CPAs and previously sat on the IRS’ Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee (IRPAC) where he was on the International Reporting and Withholding (IRW) subcommittee.  His responsibilities as a member of IRPAC included meeting with IRS and Treasury Officials on a regular basis to advice on industry concerns related to the practical application of FATCA, tax information reporting and withholding.

He has co-authored articles in such nationally recognized publications as The Journal of Bank Taxation, Practical Tax Strategies, The AICPA Tax Adviser and most recently was a contributing author for Collier on Bankruptcy Taxation.    He is an Adjunct Professor at St. John’s University’s Tobin College of Business where he teaches graduate courses in IRS Practice and Procedure, Federal Tax Research and Tax Research and Writing.  Mr. Coppinger received his BS in Finance and MBA in Public Accounting from St. John’s University and MS in Taxation from Pace University.  He is currently ABD at Sacred Heart University and is expecting a DBA in Finance.
