For the 2023 tax season, the IRS has pushed the tax deadline to April 18th. This is because the normal deadline date of April 15th happens to fall on a Saturday this year. The reason it is not on Monday, April 17th is that that day is emancipation day, which is a holiday celebrated in Washington DC where the IRS headquarters resides.
Even though the deadline isn’t until mid-April, it is important to take all the necessary steps now to avoid any hassles when the deadline day is amongst us.
