Humans Of DSJ – Sanaa Zaidi

Introducing Sanaa Zaidi

After Growing up in Queens and moving to Long Island, Sanaa went back to her hometown to attend Queens College, where she majored in accounting. She has worked in the accounting industry for over a decade, starting as an intern in 2011 and joining us at DSJ almost three years ago. During her time as a professional, Sanaa has developed a wide range of skills including a remarkable work ethic and client communication expertise which aid her in her day-to-day at the office.

Sanaa’s Professional Profile

Client satisfaction is what motivates Sanaa most in the field of accounting. Nothing satisfies her more than clients telling her they appreciate her hard work and expertise. She is seen as someone who is looked up to in the office and always leads by example. Sanaa is always excited to take a new employee under her wing and show them the ropes, which is something DSJ really appreciates because she is the perfect example of a hard worker who will always go the extra mile for her clients and coworkers.

Growing within the company is something Sanaa is striving for. She is working on getting her CPA so she can hopefully become a partner in coming years. The idea of being her own boss is exciting for Sanaa as she carries the entrepreneurial spirit with her; and even though she is not currently running a business on her own, she has an incredible knack for finding ways to optimize existing ones!

Sanaa’s Personal Profile

Outside of her accounting expertise, Sanaa does not like to brag about it, but she is a very talented piano player. Sanaa also loves to explore and tries to travel the at least 2-3 times a year with one of the vacations typically being international!  Her cousins and friends usually tag along with her on her journeys, making traveling all the more fun.

One of Sanaa’s fondest memories is the family reunion her family held a few years ago, where she was able to be with her grandparents from both sides of the family, as her entire extended family was in attendance for one final time. Speaking of family, Sanaa’s mother is her biggest inspiration in life, as her mom’s hard work and dedication is something that Sanaa replicates in her life, every single day.  Sanaa is also extremely close with her brother and even said they have never had any sibling riffs growing up, “We’re on the same wavelength” says Sanaa. Her close relationships with her family is only one of the many reasons she is a perfect fit to DSJ’s work environment.

Overcoming adversity is something that Sanaa has never shied away from. In 2015, Sanaa was in a car accident that left her hospitalized for multiple weeks. After making a full recovery, Sanaa admittingly said it took her awhile to get back on the road. What did get Sanaa back on the road happened to be an old co-worker in need of a ride to pick up their kids; and even-though Sanaa had not gotten back in the driver seat to this point, she knew what she had to do.  This small push was all it took for Sanaa to overcome a great fear, proving just how self-less she truly is, (and that she will go the extra mile)!
