I Need a HEROES! $2.2 Trillion Budget Passes House, But Will It Become a Law?

  • New stimulus package passed House of Representatives on October 1
  • What’s included in the budget?
  • When can we expect the next round of stimulus checks, if any?

Democrats’ newest contribution to Coronavirus relief just passed the House last Thursday after eager politicians on both sides push for a second round of stimulus checks before November 3rd. The price tag, though $1.2 trillion less than the original bill proposed in May, is costly, and promises billions of dollars towards similar relief provided by CARES.

The Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions (HEROES) Act shows low prospects of passing into law. Though Trump has vocalized his support for another round of relief, the bill is currently waiting in a Republican-controlled Senate that is hesitant to pass anything over “Skinny” Bill’s $300 billion proposal in September.

The fate of the long-awaited second round of stimulus checks depends on this bill, or a separate, bipartisan bill, passing into law. Until that happens, we’ll just have to be our own heroes.
